Road trip.....suggestions???

So this summer in August my husband and I are kid free for a whole week......HOLLA!!

Actually, i dont know how im gonna handle that, my kids spend at least one night a week with a family member and I can barely handle that.

Anyway, my parents are takin them to Disney for the second time (the first time we went as well) and so we have a whole week to do whatever we want.....it will be the first time we will be able to go on an extended vaca without children......

So here's why im writing.... we talked about going on a road trip, and so i thought i would post about it and get your suggestions on where we should go.

Your assignment is to comment here about where i should visit and why, put places i should check out and why they would be fun!!

Come on girls (and the one boy who reads this) lets hear it!!!

And remember, if you don't have a blogger account you can still comment all you have to do is click anonymous and leave your name in the comment.

This will be very helpful!! I cant wait to see what yall come up with!!

Staci,

Wanna know the most fun my hubby and I ever have? Sure you do...(lol)

When we don't plan anything...we just get in the car and go and see where we end up and we enjoy God's tender mercies along the way. We actually just bought a Harley for our anniversary because Josh is getting ready to turn 17 and will be leaving us for the Air Force next year (oh my gosh, here come the tears again)...and we plan on doing that again ... just getting on the bike and going and enjoying one another and seeing where God leads us and enjoying the scenery and each other and all God has for us. No plans .. no maps .. stopping to eat along the way, laughing with one another, sharing a milkshake...stopping to say we stopped at Mile Marker such and such and took a picture on this day and kissed and then move on...for us this is the beautiful spontaneity with one another that has just moved us so in our life together.

I hope this isn't too long and you get what I'm trying to say. It has always made such a strong impact on us. I hope whatever you do, you smile and embrace a lot and enjoy each other every moment.

Much love to you!

My hubby and I NEVER went on vacations without our kids. So I guess I'm not too good giving advise on this!
Thanks for your comments, darling!

I would have to tell you to go to a tropical island. My daughter went to my mom’s for a week and my husband and I went to the Dominican Republic. We had the best time. You can probably book an all inclusive vacation for pretty cheap.

My husband and I have also just hung around the house doing odds and ends having a great time as well. He and I really have a great time together no matter where it is or what we are doing.

I would rather go to a tropical island any day though… I love hot weather so any where warm is where I would go.
Have fun deciding were to go.

hmmmmmm. i am thinking of taking a trip to oregon or washington, but not sure if that would be your cup of tea.

you could always come to los angeles, but it is a bit of a nightmare to drive here!

san diego and santa barbara are always gorgeous with beautiful weather, beaches, great seafood, and super site-seeing.

and san francisco is a treat, too!

nyc is fun, but i know that is too much for some folks.

i am excited for you!!!!!!!!!

David and I have twice driven to Louisiana. We went to New Orleans and walked around the French Quarter, which was interesting. The drive was long but we came up with a game, one of us would sing a couple of words to a song and the other had to figure out what song it was OR one of us would name and artist and the other one would have to immediatlely come up with a song by the artist....fun and lots of laughs.
David wants to drive to Big Bend, however, I'm leary as to I don't want to go without cell phone coverage at any time.

I'm not entirely sure where you live, so I don't have any helpful ideas!!

Well, if you want to go on an actual road trip, I'm going to say CO. Visit friends. Drive through the Rockies. OK, it's kind of a selfish request b/c there's a good chance I'll be there in August (my bro in Colorado Springs is getting married), but it really is a beautiful trip. I've done it many times.

My other suggestion is Grand Canyon. I'm a bit of a nature girl, though, so I'm not really sure if that's your thing. Would Jason enjoy it?

oh! i would suggest driving to colorado... its gorgeous once you get there, but getting out of texas is the boring part. maybe a road trip to florida or gulf shores alabama - my girlfriends and i were gonna go there for our reunion trip this year but have opted for destin, FL.

anyhow. didnt you mention something about NEW YORK CITY THOUGH?!?!?!

Oh, Destin, Florida is beautiful. I've been there sooo many times to visit family and I cannot get enough of it.
